Racial Justice in Entertainment

AUGUST 28TH @ 3-4:45PM

This session will be an opportunity to explore how entertainment is used as a way to confront racial injustice, learn from our past, and continue moving towards a more equitable society. We’ll explore pieces of entertainment, both historical and current, that recognize our struggles and triumphs – and discuss how we all heal from the past together. If you’d like to watch any examples ahead of time, we’d recommend viewing: Hitsville: The Making of Motown (Showtime), Uppity: The Willy T. Ribbs Story (Netflix), Ciara’s “Rooted” music video.
